Hello and welcome to my website. My name is Dr. Jasminder Pannu. I was born in Mission, B.C and grew up in Surrey. I attended Simon Fraser University, where I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Early Childhood Education. From there I attended University of Western States in Portland, Oregon and earned a Bachelor of Science and a Doctor of Chiropractic in March 2008.
I was first introduced to chiropractic when I had started getting tension headaches, and my brother, who is a chiropractor in Seattle was able to help me. He treated me for a month, and my headaches were gone.
My practice approach involves physical therapy modalities along with soft-tissue rehabilitation techniques and chiropractic manipulation.
A doctor of Chiropractic seeks to detect and correct spinal misalignments that cause stress on the nervous system, and therefore decreased performance of the body. I work with patients, young and old, to ensure that their nervous, skeletal and muscular systems work to its greatest potential. There is some scientific evidence to indicate that chiropractic adjustments may have a beneficial effect on a variety of conditions, such as constipation, asthma, allergies, migraines, fever, heart burn, vertigo, blood pressure and so forth. The goal is to improve overall health, not simply remove symptoms. I have a true passion for helping people and a devotion to Chiropractic. Is it safe to adjust a child?
Chiropractic is absolutely safe for children. Doctors of Chiropractic use very gentle and specific techniques for children. The purpose of chiropractic is to remove interference to the nervous system, which is the control center for all of the body’s organs, tissues and systems. Chiropractic adjustments release the body’s healing powers in children just like in adults. Why do infants need chiropractic?
The birth process is highly traumatic and can introduce great stress to the infant’s skull, spine and pelvis. Infants should be checked by a chiropractor for spinal subluxations that may impair nerve function and can contribute to colic, earache, asthma, allergies and sleeping problems etc. As babies grow, they begin to crawl, sit, and walk by using their spine. Proper alignment is essential for ensuring normal function.I have advanced training in providing chiropractic care to babies and children. I have a certification in Webster's Technique, which establishs balance in the pregnant woman's pelvis and reduces undue stress to her uterus and supporting ligaments. This balanced state in the pelvis has been clinically shown to allow for optimal fetal positioning. With a balanced pelvis, babies have a greater chance of moving into the correct position for birth, and the crisis and worry associated with breech and posterior presentations may be avoided altogether. This technique also eliminates the potential for difficult labour, and therefore results in easier and safer deliveries for both the mother and the baby.
The Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics reported in the July/August 2002 issue an 82% success rate of babies turning vertex when doctors of chiropractic used the Webster Technique. Further, the results from the study suggest that it may be beneficial to perform the Webster Technique as soon as the 8th month of pregnancy when a woman has a breech presentation.
